When our bodies fail to provide our heart’s desires there is no one else to turn to for help but God. We learn just how fragile life is. Doctors can try to fix biological issues, but only God can heal the scars that damage our soul. When we go to God with our deepest wounds but He doesn’t seem to answer we can become distraught, heartbroken, even angry. The challenge of infertility cuts into a woman’s soul and identity.
Why would God put such a desire in your heart to have a child when your body rejects life over and over again? With each passing Mother’s Day and multiple friends’ baby showers your heart can harden. You stop even trying to sympathize with the complaining moms who don’t get enough sleep and can’t find a babysitter for date night. You would give anything to be tired and stuck at home with a baby! You ask God, “How much longer? How much longer do I have to ask you to fix this broken womb inside me?” And then there is a sparkle, a glimmer, a rainbow of hope.
